EnDOW Report 3: Current Best Practices among Cultural Heritage Institutions when Dealing with Copyright Orphan Works and Analysis of Crowdsourcing Options
The final EnDOW Report examines the different approaches that cultural heritage institutions in the UK, Netherlands and Italy have taken to orphan works identified in their collections, and explores crowd-sourcing as a potential solution to the challenges presented by diligent search. The report finds a range of practice, from strict compliance to risk-based approaches inside and outside the law of copyright, and a willingness to explore crowd-sourcing from some institutions.

EnDOW Report 2: Requirements for Diligent Search in 20 European Countries
EnDOW Report 2 builds on EnDOW Report 1, extending the survey of legislative requirements for diligent search to jurisdictions including France, Germany, Ireland and Spain. The report finds that the number of diligent search sources listed in national legislation varies significantly from country to country, limiting the harmonisation intended by the EU Orphan Works Directive.

EnDOW Report 1: Requirements for Diligent Search in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Italy
This project report presents a comprehensive survey of the legislative requirements for diligent search across three EU member states, showing that it is possible, within the scope of the EU Orphan Works Directive, for diligent searches to be carried out remotely, but that almost half of the mandated search sources are inaccessible online.

EnDOW Diligent Search Tool
The EnDOW Diligent Search Tool is a web-based form that guides users through the process of conducting a diligent search, which allows them to determine whether a creative work meets the definition of an orphan work.
The online form can be used by cultural heritage professionals, users or volunteers, or by anyone who needs to determine the copyright status of a work. The nature of the tool also means that it can be used to crowdsource the diligent search process, which previous research has shown can be laborious and expensive.
